Two products for two kinds of retailer

Tulip is one of the best known names in clienteling. At the time of writing it serves large retailers and luxury groups with a store app, client data and tools for associates, sold through enterprise contracts. For a group with hundreds of stores and an IT team that can run a rollout, that model makes sense.

Clientele is built for the much larger number of retailers who never get that far: the independent jeweler, the watch dealer with two stores, the fashion boutique on a high street, the luxury brand with five to thirty doors that wants clienteling now and not after a procurement cycle. These teams need a tool that works the day after they sign up and a price they can see before they talk to anyone.

So the real question is not which product is better in general. It is which one fits the size of your business and how quickly you need associates to be contacting clients.

What a Clientele associate sees each morning

The center of Clientele is the Money Feed. Instead of a client database and a search box, each associate opens a short ranked list of the clients worth contacting today. Every card shows the reason (a birthday next week, a wishlist piece back in stock, six months since the last purchase), the opportunity value in dollars and a message in the associate's own voice, ready to send on WhatsApp, SMS or email where the client has consented.

That design choice matters most in stores without a dedicated clienteling manager. When the tool decides who comes first, outreach happens every day instead of before the big seasonal event only. Read more about the clienteling tools inside the feed.

Pricing you can read before you buy

Clientele publishes every plan. Boutique costs $99 a month billed yearly for up to 3 associates. Brand costs $299 a month billed yearly for up to 15 associates in 3 stores. Flagship costs $999 a month billed yearly for up to 50 associates in multiple stores. Enterprise costs $2,499 a month billed yearly and adds SSO, SCIM, data residency and dedicated onboarding, with self serve checkout like the other plans. Monthly billing is available at twice the monthly rate.

At the time of writing Tulip does not publish its prices, so we cannot compare totals. If you are already in a Tulip conversation, ask for the full cost per store per year including implementation, and compare it with the Clientele plan that fits your team. Our guide to Tulip clienteling pricing lists what drives the quote and eight questions to send before the call.

When Tulip is the stronger fit

Be honest with your own requirements. A retailer with several hundred stores, a mature data warehouse and a dedicated team to manage a long rollout may want an enterprise vendor with a large services organization, and Tulip is built for that buyer. If you need a deep custom integration negotiated as part of a group wide contract, that conversation belongs with an enterprise sales team.

When Clientele is the stronger fit

  • You run one to fifteen stores, or a brand with a few dozen doors, and want associates contacting clients this week.
  • You want to see the price and start without a sales process.
  • Your associates message clients from their phones on WhatsApp and SMS, and you need consent handled properly.
  • You want a daily list with reasons and drafted messages, not only a database to search.
  • You want proof of what outreach sold, per associate, from the first month.

Clientele is clienteling software for that second group. For a wider view of how a CRM for client advisors differs from a store app, see the page on luxury retail CRM.

How to run a fair evaluation

  1. Pick one store and one month of real client data.
  2. Ask each vendor what associates would do with that data on a Tuesday morning, step by step.
  3. Count how many clients each associate would contact in a week, and how long each message takes to write.
  4. Check how consent is captured and proven per channel.
  5. Ask for the total cost per year, including implementation and any per store fees.

Clientele can answer the first three on your own list in a minute through the demo on the homepage.

FAQ

Choosing between Clientele and Tulip

Is Clientele a Tulip alternative for a single boutique?

Yes. Clientele is built so one store with a few associates can start the same day, with a plan from $99 a month billed yearly. Tulip, at the time of writing, sells to enterprise retailers through its sales team and does not publish prices.

Does Tulip publish its pricing?

At the time of writing Tulip does not list prices on its website. Pricing is agreed in an enterprise contract after a conversation with its sales team. Clientele lists every plan and price on its pricing page.

Salesfloor is now part of Tulip. What does that change?

At the time of writing salesfloor.net redirects to tulip.com, and Salesfloor has been folded into Tulip. Retailers who used Salesfloor now talk to Tulip about their contract and roadmap.

Can Clientele run on iPads in store as well as on phones?

Clientele runs in any modern browser, so associates use it on their phone, a store iPad or a desktop at the counter. The Money Feed is designed for a phone first, because that is where associates actually message clients.

How long does it take to switch to Clientele?

Most stores import a CSV of clients and purchases, or connect Shopify, in an afternoon. Associates see their first Money Feed the next morning. Enterprise plans include dedicated onboarding for larger estates.
